RACING REFLECTIONS... with Nancy Tinari

Diva on the Run 8k, Sunday, March 16 -- Jericho Park, Vancouver

"Suzanne and I ran away from the other Divas right from the start.  I stayed with her for 1K and was still close at 4K (splits 15:00/15:12) but then she decided to stop playing around.  She gained another minute on me in the second half, as we finished 29:26/30:37.  I was a bit disappointed with my time, but this is a course that is mostly gravel with a short woodchip section, so it isn't as fast as a road course."

Nancy also explains why Suzanne was releasing a little pent-up frustration during the second-half of the Diva run:

"Suzanne was a bit angry because she was beaten by only 3 seconds yesterday in the St. Patrick's Day run in Stanley Park.  Marilyn Arsenault nipped by her at the 1-mile mark to grab the $50 prime, then tucked in behind and drafted her, then outsprinted her from about 150m out.  Their times were 17:09/17:12.  Suzanne has nothing to be ashamed of, as Marilyn is having a great year in the Island series of races, highlighted by a 36:00 10k. I think Suzanne can break 36:00 in the Sun Run -- it is a very fast course."
